Immediately after four surgical procedures to mend nerve harm to his feet, Smits underwent intense again surgical treatment in November 2009 to suitable cracks in one joint that connection his vertebrae. Smits has also gone through arthroscopic surgical procedures on his still left knee and experienced bone chips removed from his still left ankle.[
